Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia | Alpha Upsilon | University of Arizona

Chapter Philanthropy

The Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia has done philanthropy in addition to our Mills Music Mission. These events include:

  • Ben’s Bells
    • Ben’s Bells are beautiful, ceramic wind chimes, handmade by the community. Ben’s Bells are hung randomly throughout the community, in public spaces, for people to find and take home as a reminder to practice intentional kindness. Volunteers puts Ben’s Bells together and it provides a great way for Phi Mu Alpha to give back to the community in a nonmusical way.

  • Casa de los Niños
    • Established in 1973, when child abuse was a crime so unspeakable Americans did not speak of it at all, Casa de los Niños was among the first crisis nurseries in the United States. The Brothers of Phi Mu Alpha along with the sisters of Tau Beta Sigma performed a mini concert for the children as well as put on an instrument petting zoo allowing children to try playing all the instruments.
  • Casa Maria Soup Kitchen
    • The Brothers of Phi Mu Alpha travel and work in a soup kitchen for part of the day as a way to help the community. Brothers often start to sing while working adding the uplifting power of music to work that is not the most enjoyable.
